How to Set Your Default Music Player for Links on Android

In modern Android versions (Android 12, 13, 14, and 15), Google updated link handling: through Android App Links, web URLs open in the browser unless an app has verified domain permissions.

In this guide, we explain how to configure Android so that shared music links always play in your favorite music app.

How Does Link Verification Work in Android?

When you tap a music link (like https://open.spotify.com/...) in an app (like WhatsApp or Telegram), Android checks:

  1. Is there an app with verified domain rights?
  2. Are "Supported web addresses" manually enabled in app settings?
  3. If neither applies: The URL opens in your default web browser.

How to Enable Supported Links for SongFlip

To allow SongFlip to intercept music links instantly:

  1. Open Android Settings.
  2. Navigate to Apps > SongFlip.
  3. Tap on Open by default.
  4. Select Add supported links.
  5. Check the boxes for your desired streaming domains (e.g. open.spotify.com, music.apple.com, tidal.com, deezer.com).

Check Status in SongFlip

SongFlip includes a status indicator right on the home screen: You can immediately see which streaming domains are active and verified. Once enabled, 0-click background redirection runs smoothly.
